About

All Showtime tournaments unless stated otherwise are covered by our Stay-to-Play (Save) Policy. Generally speaking, the typical stay-to-play requirements in the broader volleyball community have been highly controversial and the cause of significant dissatisfaction by clubs and parents. We all have personal examples of being on the receiving end of rigid hotel requirements that left a bitter taste at one or more volleyball events.

So why have them at all?

Why is Stay-to-PLAY (SAVE) necessary?

In short, Stay-to-Play is necessary to combat ever-increasing hotel costs. With an influx of demand from a large tournament, hotels raise prices knowing people need somewhere to stay, with only a limited number of rooms available parents are at the mercy of these price hikes.

The best defense against these high prices is to implement a Stay-to-Play Policy where a hotel partner negotiates competitive rates in bulk and locks those in for the entire weekend meaning hotels are contractually obligated to provide rooms at negotiated prices.

How does Stay-to-Save benefit you?

Lower Hotel Costs

Months in advance of each event our hotel partner Traveling Teams negotiates low rates with hotels in the area to ensure our participants get the lowest possible rates in the market. If a hotel doesn’t come to the party at a reasonable rate, they walk away. So first and foremost our policy helps ensure low hotel prices relative to booking independently.

Lower Entry Fees

You might have noticed the cost of team registration is getting higher and higher every year, especially at larger tournaments and convention centers.

The higher the cost of team entry, the more teams have to charge each year for dues, and/or the fewer events kids can participate in. Having a stay-to-play policy allows us to keep registration fees relatively low compared to other events meaning more kids can participate in our tournaments.

Special Deals and Discounts

With a quantifiable benefit to the city and its hotels, it enables us to seek out and negotiate discounts and promotional opportunities with local businesses including restaurants and entertainment options.

LOCAL Government and Facility Requirements

Local governments and tourism boards love to see tourism from out of town visitors who spend nights in local hotels. Utilizing a hotel partner allows tournament organizers to promote their events to local governments by collecting travel information and quantifying dollar benefits to the local economy. Furthermore, many facility owners make it a requirement to use a hotel partner if a tournament wants to operate in their facility. This means no stay-to-play, no tournament.

In order to participate in our tournaments, each out of town team needs to book hotels through our partner Traveling Teams. Each tournament page on our website has a dedicated link to book hotels online quickly and easily, by reserving room blocks so all your teams and their families can stay in the one hotel where possible.
